06) Weekly Update 02

I am a part of the building team and I am also in charge of photographing and documenting the physical piece. This week our group met on teams to discuss the process and the designs. 

I also did some research on possible ways to connect our physical piece because Bryan suggested that it was important for our pieces to be able to construct and deconstruct as AUArts has many small doors.

There are detailed descriptions of different joints in this Home Depot blog post. I think for our purpose, the best one might be a Dovetail Joint or a Box Joint, because of the tight fit and that it can deconstruct easily if needed. 

 

Also, I think because we have really squared designs, these joint methods might be a good fit for our design. Also, since we have the CNC machine, we don’t have to worry about cutting them with a saw. We do need to make some prof tests.
